Starting May 2025, significant changes in visa policy and residence permit regulations will come into effect in Northern Cyprus, aiming to support foreign investors and property owners. The announcement was made by TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.

Key updates:

  1. Residence permits for up to 5 years: Foreigners who own property registered in their name can now obtain a residence permit for up to 5 years — with no income requirement or link to minimum wage.
  2. More flexible visa conditions: A 90-day visa will now be issued not only based on the title deed but also on a sales contract approved by the Tax Office. Based on the contract, a residence permit can be granted for up to 2 years, and up to 5 years with approval from the Council of Ministers.
  3. Benefits for families and students: Children under 18 studying in local schools are exempt from needing a residence permit. Simplified legal status is also being introduced for marriages with TRNC citizens.
  4. Health insurance: Requirements for foreign property owners over 60 are being relaxed. Health insurance verification will now be required once every 5 years instead of annually.

The government emphasizes that supporting those who invest in Northern Cyprus and choose it as their home is a priority and part of the country's social responsibility.
