Prime Minister of TRNC Ünal Üstel took part in the opening of the Mehmet Göze Laboratory of Construction Materials and Mechanics, established under the Chamber of Civil Engineers. In his speech, he emphasized that the project, which had been discussed for the past 30 years, was finally implemented during his government’s term.
“We are creating not dreams, but real actions,” Üstel noted.
The head of government stated that their goal is to introduce a modern system of construction quality control in cooperation with professional chambers and public organizations. He stressed that the main reason natural events turn into disasters is human error and negligence: “We will never allow inaction. If new legislative changes are needed in construction supervision, we are giving the chambers the green light for proposals.”
According to Üstel, the new laboratory will test all metal imported into the country and return materials that do not meet the standards. This will not only improve the safety of buildings but also protect the market from low-quality supplies. “Today we are laying the foundation for a future where the safety of our citizens will become the main priority,” said the Prime Minister, thanking everyone who contributed to the project.
